I volunteered for the maiden edition of Feeding Futures Africa put together by @HEDagenda Resource Centre in partnership with OXFAM and the National Orientation Agency, NOA held on 14th and 15th of August, 2018 at Lagos City Hall, Lagos Island.
Main goal of the agro summit was to discuss rising issues on Food Security, availability of quality Food for the population, ClimateChange resulting to Conflicts, Agribusiness, access to funds and financial services for women and youth agropreneurs (challenges and opportunities), Agritechnology, Endangered local and medicinal foods in Africa etc.
Also, ideas relating to Agriculture was pitched by participants and the best bankable idea was chosen and funded. There were different panel sessions and amongst panelists were African Farmer Mogaji, Haruuna Zakari (GM Agromet, #NiMET), Saratu Abiola (#OXFAM), Kafilat Adedeji (MD, Prudent Farms), Professor G.B. Olanrewaju Fasasi aka @soundsultan joined to launch an online competition 'my Farmer my Hero'. The competition started last year and it helps young minds to put up their creative ideas and if such idea meet up with all requirements, its sponsored.
An online platform 'Agroconnect Africa' was also launched, its vision is to bring together tech guys, farmers, innovators, investors, everyone who has an interest in #Agriculture together and share their idea or invest in ideas. Registration is free and the platforms has different sessions like articles, forums, links etc to connect with people.
I was able to network with quite some great minds who are passionate about #Agriculture and #FoodSecurity, hope to do more of this and as well be of great impact to my community and nation.
